Afternoon,
A couple of goings on that I guess would make a good first post for this new blog.
The VAServ Hack
Recently as you might have read (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/06/08/webhost_attack/), our webhost was the victim of a large scale criminal hack. Whilst no data was stolen it caused massive interruption to our services, the backups held on the webhost were also lost in this pointless attack, causing us to have to revert to manual backups that were stored locally. As you can imagine uploading over 50GB of data isnt an easy job. We thank all of our clients who were very understanding during this difficult time.
Since then we have moved all of our hosting services to VPS.NET – a cloud VPS provider – allowing us to have a beast of a server (8 GHZ, 4GB Ram, 200GB storage) for half the price of a dedicated server.
New Projects
Plenty of new projects in the pipeline – we will detail each of these as we go along.
CakePHP
Nu Order Webs has recently got into cakePHP for some of its more bespoke development. CakePHP is a PHP framework which allows a significant move away from standard PHP coding into a Design Pattern Oriented PHP Methodology; not to mention that it saves a hell of a lot of time in development.
Other than that I hope you subscribe to the blog and find some of the tips we give useful! Matt will also be posting when he has the time and hopefully this can become a decent development / SEO resource.
